My name is Kuo Ying Hsiu, based in Taiwan. I'm a Artist, I guess. 

我是郭盈秀,(也許是個) 藝術家,現居台灣。

This is a project which is finding the “body” back.

這是一個把身體找回來的藝術創作計畫。

When we think of what is performance art, we would like to review what is the relationship between the performer and audience. What is the design in this relationship from performer? We believe that it is different for each performer has their own relationship with the audience. However, due to the performance art, it’s a way for all of the people could sharing the time and space, together.

 

It’s a way to have the co-experience with other, we would rather use the word “feeling”, but not “understanding” the performance art. There’s no certain ways to understand performance art, because each performer and audience has their own life experience. And the most fantastic thing in this world is audience could have their own interpretation, their own ways to “reach” the work of the performer.

第一天作品使用一個長達100公尺的釣魚線,先交給正前方的民眾。後起身後退至園區操場中心。以線纏繞身體,一邊吟唱太巴塱之歌。歌聲延續的到第二日演出,請在地居民蔡明德先生分享過去林田山成長經驗。觀眾閉眼聆聽山林與故事同時,膠帶繫於手牽手的觀眾上,並一同走了一段路。繼續吟唱的第三場演出,六公升白水與紅水交替淋於身上。身體是顏料,地板是畫布。人是存在在天地間的存在。太巴塱之歌在答唱之下,和靈聖同在。

The first day of the work uses a fishing line of up to 100 meters, first handed over to the people in front. After getting up, wrap the body around the line and sing the song of the Tafalong. The singing continued to the second day of performance, and the local resident Mr.Tsai shared the experience of growing up in Lin Tianshan’s growth. At the same time, the audience closed their eyes and listened to the forest and the story. The tape was tied to the audience holding hands and walked together for a while. In the third performance that continued to sing, six liters of white water and red water alternated on the body. The body is a pigment and the floor is a canvas, a presence between heaven and earth.

2018 《Zarathustra》Physical Image 身體影像《查拉圖斯特拉如是說》

VAGA Body & Multimedia Experimental Group 成立於2016年,由中國編舞家楊柳與台灣藝術家郭盈秀所組成。近年開始「以身體閱讀場域」創作計劃,致力在不同場域,以身體進行閱讀與書寫,進行場域對話。至今於香港、越南與中國廣州,並前往至希臘、印尼等地進行駐村計劃創作,產出身體影像與展演。「身體影像」作品企圖透過影像傳達身體的場域性,不同身體影像在不同空間下的不同可能(及狀態)。 《查拉圖斯特拉如是說》透過非線性的剪輯,把期間拍攝的身體影像重組,試圖去梳理身體在不同場域的狀態流變。

VAGA Body & Multimedia Experimental Group, was founded in 2016, group members including Yang Liu 楊柳 and Kuo Ying Hsiu 郭盈秀. The group's art project "Embodying Places" is a nomadic platform of artistic research exploring the possibilities of body as a tool to analyze the social fabric in different contexts. During 2016-2019, this Project is already taken place in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Greece, China, and Indonesia. The artist group try to practice art within the relationship of physical body in the field, discover the various possibilities. They are dedicated to exploring the dialogue between the field and the individual.

創作概念:「我身體焦慮的是,在離開台南越久,屬於自己的記憶與生活範圍,越來越遠。但當別人提起這個地方,又彷彿與自身無關。於是我除了在他處是異鄉人,自己也成為自己的異鄉人。」

第一段演出:《與空間平行》

「在這個時代,我們是否有將最實質的身體感悟投入空間?」作品發想自「以身體閱讀場域」創作計劃。我們用一年半的時間前往不同的國家和地區創作,在期間不斷感知與反思個人的身體意識,及身體與空間的關系。在創作中,我們感受到之於空間,空間中的身體即使運動,但也越發呈現靜止的狀態,一種忽略時間考量後的靜置狀態。在這種靜置狀態中身體始終與空間互融,也始終呈現平行關系。這種浸入其中,又與之互離的狀態,引發了創作者重新用身體梳理自身與空間、與他者的關系。

第二段演出:《有意思嗎?我只是無法跟你描述那些了。》

站立在畫的範圍中,與觀眾眼神對接,無近距離接觸,無言語交流。

「我們是否能用言語、身體來表達自己?」創作者在日常經歷中感受到言語交流中的誤讀,也在其中不斷感受到一些事情與情緒,無法書寫、無法言語、甚至無法袒露。無關私密,卻仍只梗在自己的身體裏。此行為作品嘗試重建溝通模式,透過反言語、反動作的身體方式,僅透過眼神將心中的描述與情緒袒露,在演出中找尋回應,反思人與人之間的感受傳遞。同時也在行為中討論人與溝通載體,與溝通內容間的辯證必要性。

 

第三段演出:《落髮》

The first part: "parallel to space"

Artist: Yang Liu, Kuo Ying Hsiu

"In this era, do we have to put the most substantial body feelings into the space?" The work was conceived from the “Embodying Places” artist project. We spent a year and a half visiting different countries and regions to create and reflect on our personal body consciousness and the relationship between body and space. In the creation, we feel the space, even if the body in the space moves, it is more and more static, a state of rest after ignoring the time. In this resting state, the body always blends with the space, and always has a parallel relationship. 

 

The second part: "Is it interesting? I just can't describe those with you."

Artist: Yang Liu

Standing in the scope of the painting, docking with the viewer's eyes, no close contact, no verbal communication.

"Can we express ourselves in words and body?" The creators feel misunderstandings in verbal communication in their daily experiences, and constantly feel some things and emotions in them, unable to write, can't speak, or even reveal. It’s not about privacy, but it’s still only in your body. This performing art work attempts to reconstruct the communication mode. Through the anti-verbal and anti-action physical methods, the expression and emotions of the heart are revealed only through the eyes, and the response is sought in the performance, reflecting the transmission of feelings between people. 

 

The third part: "falling hair"

2018 Self Publish Photography Book In Taipei 獨立出版攝影集 《錯誤資訊_ 致 那些路過與稍縱即逝的》

2018年獨立出版攝影集《錯誤資訊_ 致 那些路過及稍縱即逝的》,記錄2015-2018年期間於台灣、中國、香港等不同城市之間路途的紀實。

 

以影像作為書寫的方式,進行自我記錄。身體與空間,身體與身體,都在面對的是距離,或許面對,或許告別,或許糾纏,或許怨懟。有些景象來到我眼前,有些景象離我遠去。這本攝影集,也許在述說的,是這件事情。關於那些不斷離去的。

In 2018, the independent publishing photography book  《To Those Passing By》. It records the documentary of the road between Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and other cities during 2015-2018.

 

The body and the space, the body and the body are all facing the distance, perhaps facing, perhaps bidding farewell, perhaps entangled, perhaps resentful. Some scenes came to my eyes, and some scenes were far away from me. This photo collection, perhaps in the description, is this thing. About those who are constantly leaving.
